Resale Settings Explained

Option Description
Make "Purchase Price" a percentage of "Retail" Enable this option to calculate the purchase price as a percentage of the retail price, unlocking the resale configuration fields below.
Purchase By Percentage of Retail Define separate percentages used to automatically calculate the purchase price based on the item's retail price. Two fields are available: For Cash Payout and For Store Credit Payout. For example, if "Cash Payout" is set to 40% and the retail price is $100, the system will calculate a purchase price of $40. "Store Credit Payout" might be set higher to encourage credit over cash, such as 50%.
Hide Percentage of Retail at Checkout When enabled, hides the percentage calculation from being visible at checkout, keeping the purchase pricing logic internal.

How It Works

When purchasing inventory from a customer (typically for store-owned resale), the system uses the percentages configured here to automatically calculate what you will pay. This streamlines buy/resell workflows and ensures consistency across transactions.

Best Practices

  • Adjust the purchase percentage periodically based on market trends or inventory needs.
  • Use the hide option to maintain a cleaner interface for staff during checkout.
  • Train staff on how percentages affect final payout amounts to reduce confusion.

FAQs

  • Can I change the purchase percentage per item?
No, the setting applies store-wide. You can override the final purchase price manually during item entry if needed.
  • Does this affect consigned items?
No. These settings apply only to items you are purchasing outright for resale—not consigned goods.
  • Will these settings impact my reports?
Yes. The calculated purchase price will be reflected in profit margin and inventory cost reports.
