Vendor Mall Plus Overview

Have more questions? Submit a request

Vendor Mall Plus is a plan specifically built for vendor malls and antique malls. It replaces the spreadsheets many stores use to track booths and rent, and the paper floor maps that get marked up by hand, with connected tools inside SimpleConsign: a searchable list of every space in your store, named locations for organizing them, an interactive 3D map, flexible rent collection, and bulk item import for onboarding vendor inventory quickly.

This guide give you a high-level overview of each feature.

Getting started

Vendor Mall Plus is a standalone subscription plan, priced separately from the other SimpleConsign plans (Basic, Standard, and Professional):

  • Price: $379/month.
  • Introductory pricing: new SimpleConsign customers may qualify for $199/month for the first 6 months (or until your store reaches $50,000 in tracked sales, whichever comes first). Contact our Sales Team at 888-860-8094 extension 1 to see if your store qualifies.
  • After any introductory period ends, pricing automatically moves to the standard rate — no action needed, and nothing else about your account changes.

Once your location is subscribed to the Vendor Mall Plus plan, you'll see a new Mall tab in your Back Office navigation alongside Dashboard, Consignment, Inventory, and the rest of your usual tabs.

Note: The Mall tab is only available in the Back Office. It doesn't appear on the cashier/point-of-sale screen.

New terminology: Vendor vs. Consignor

On the Vendor Mall Plus plan, the term "consignor" is replaced with "vendor" throughout the software — on the Consignment tab, in account profiles, and in reports. Functionally, vendors and consignors work the same way; this is simply the terminology that better fits a multi-vendor mall.

Refer to our What's the Difference Between a Consignor, Vendor, Dealer, and Supplier? article for more information.

Vendor profiles

Vendor profiles have been redesigned to stay simple, even for vendors who rent space at more than one of your locations.

  1. Open a vendor's profile from the Consignment tab, or by selecting their name from the Mall tab's List View.
  2. Use the Simple / Detailed toggle in the top right of the profile.
    • Simple view shows the essentials you'll use day to day: contact info, balance and credit, portal access, recurring fees, and account type.
    • Detailed view adds settings you set once and rarely revisit: contract details, inventory-handling preferences, tax ID, bulk update inventory and access permissions.

The List View: managing your spaces

The Mall tab's List View gives you a live, searchable table of every space in your store — no more separate spreadsheet. A space can be a shelf, booth, table, display case, rack, or any other physical setup your mall uses.

An Export CSV button at the bottom of the list lets you download the current view as a spreadsheet at any time.

Adding a space

  1. From the List View, click the + button in the upper right.
  2. Enter a Space ID — a numeric identifier for the space.
  3. Choose a Space Location — the named area this space belongs to (see Space Locations below).
  4. Choose a Space Type from the predefined, categorized list: Tables (Table, Round Table, Square Table), Cases (Display, Locked, Jewelry, Countertop), Shelving (Shelf, Shelf Unit), Racks & Hanging (Clothing Rack, Hanging Rack, Spinner Rack), Outdoor/Other, and Booths & Enclosed Spaces (Booth, Corner Booth, End Cap Booth). If nothing fits, choose Other.
  5. Optionally, assign a vendor now — or leave the space Vacant and assign one later.
  6. Save the space.

How To Add or Edit Vendor Map Spaces with pictures

Managing spaces

  • A space's status is Vacant until a vendor is assigned, then it switches to Occupied.
  • To edit a space, select its edit icon in the List View. You can change its Space Location, Space Type, or Assigned Vendor.
  • If you reassign a space's vendor, you'll see a warning naming exactly what will change (for example, which vendor will replace which) before you save — so you can't accidentally bump the wrong vendor.
  • Each space can also have a Default Fee — a template rent amount, charged monthly on the 1st, applied automatically whenever a vendor is assigned. To set or change it:
    1. Edit the space and enter an amount in the Default Fee field.
    2. Choose whether to also update the currently assigned vendor's fee to match — select yes to apply the new amount to them now, or no to leave their existing fee as-is.
    3. Save your changes.
  • To override a single vendor's fee without changing the space's Default Fee, open that vendor's details under the Vendor Tab and change their fee directly — their fee updates, while the space's Default Fee stays the same for the next vendor who moves in.

Finding available spaces

  1. Open the Status filter above the list.
  2. Select Vacant.
  3. Select Apply.

The list updates to show only unoccupied spaces — handy when you're walking a prospective vendor through what's currently open.

You can also filter by Vendor to quickly find every space a specific vendor rents. Remember to select Apply after choosing your filters — the List View is intentionally built to wait for Apply rather than searching after every keystroke, which keeps results accurate and the screen from flickering while you're still typing. Clearing a filter (for example, removing a vendor selection) updates the list immediately.

Space Locations: organizing spaces into named areas

Space Locations let you group spaces into named areas of your store — "Aisle A," "Front Checkout Area," or a street-style name, however you'd naturally describe a section of your mall.

Why use Space Locations

Many malls restart their space numbering in each section or aisle, rather than numbering every space in the store sequentially. Space Locations makes that possible:

  • The same Space ID can exist in more than one location. Space 12 in Aisle A and Space 12 in Aisle B are treated as two different spaces.
  • You can't create the same Space ID twice within the same location — trying to add a second Space 12 in Aisle A will show an error, since that combination already exists.

Managing locations

  1. Select the gear icon in the Mall tab.
  2. To add a location, enter its name and save — you can also add a new location on the fly while adding or editing a space.
  3. To delete a location, you'll be asked whether to reassign its spaces to another location. This step is optional: if you skip it and there's no naming conflict, those spaces simply have their location removed rather than being deleted.

See our Managing Spaces article for more details.

The Interactive Map

The Map view shows the same spaces as the List View, laid out visually on your store's floor plan in 3D — built to replace a framed paper map that gets updated by hand.

  • Color coding: green markers are Occupied spaces; grey markers are unoccupied (Vacant).
  • Navigation: drag to pan, scroll to zoom in and out, and right-click and drag to rotate the view.

Adding a marker

  1. New spaces are automatically added to the map's space list when you create them in the List View.
  2. If a space is missing a marker, select the menu on that space and choose Add marker.
  3. Select the spot on the floor plan where the space physically sits to drop the pin.

The same menu also lets you edit or delete the space without leaving the map. If two rentable spaces share a footprint (for example, a shelf inside a larger booth), place a second marker close by rather than stacking them exactly.

Note: A space's marker position is a relative representation of where it sits in your store, not a pixel-perfect measurement. Because markers sit on a 3D map, their apparent position can shift slightly depending on your viewing angle — that's expected.

Editing and filtering from the map

  • Every space also appears in a list alongside the map. Select Edit Space to assign or change a vendor without leaving the map view.
  • Filter the map by vendor and/or status the same way you would in the List View, then select Apply. Selecting a marker opens that space's details, including the vendor renting it.

Rent & fees

Recurring Fees & Discounts

Vendors can have one or more recurring fees configured directly on their profile.

  1. Open the vendor's profile and go to Recurring Fees & Discounts.
  2. Select the edit icon to add or change a fee.
  3. Set a frequency (Weekly, Biweekly, Monthly, or Yearly), an amount, and a description (for example, "Space 12, Aisle A" if this fee covers a specific space).
  4. Optionally, add an account-level discount with a start and end date — this applies across all of the vendor's fees.
  5. Save your changes.

Your Simple-view profile shows a summary table of all active fees, along with an Est. monthly total that normalizes every fee to a monthly figure, regardless of its frequency.

Note: Vendor Mall Plus accounts support multiple simultaneous fees, intended to be assigned one per rented space. Today, that link between a fee and a space is just the free-text description you enter — it isn't a structural connection yet.

Automated Collection & Payout

Choose how rent is actually collected from your vendors:

  1. Go to Settings → Options → Vendor Mall Plus, in the Vendor section.

  2. Set your Rental Fee Collection Strategy to either:

    • Balance Only — rent is pulled from the vendor's sales balance, or
    • Credit Card Only — rent is charged to a card on file.
  3. These two methods can't be mixed within a single location; choose the one that fits how your store operates.

  4. If you choose Credit Card Only, vendors will see a Manage Payment Methods option on their profile where a card can be entered.

  5. To review billing history for a vendor, open their profile and go to the Invoices tab. Each invoice shows the total sales applied and which collection method was used for that period.

Bulk Item Upload

If a new vendor already has a spreadsheet of their inventory, you can import it in bulk instead of entering items one by one.

  1. Go to the Item Entry screen and choose the CSV import option (alongside Inventory Backup, Batch Entry, and Regular Item Entry).
  2. Drag and drop your CSV file.
  3. Review any rows the tool flags as needing attention — for example, a category that doesn't exist yet in your system, or a missing required field like retail price.
  4. Fix flagged rows directly in the tool, or clear/skip the ones you'd rather not fix right now.
  5. Select Submit to import the valid rows.

Note: This is a create-only tool — it adds new items but can't update items that already exist in your system. If a SKU is already in SimpleConsign, make changes to it directly rather than through the importer.

Setting up your store's map

To bring your store's layout into SimpleConsign, you'll provide us with a floor plan and we'll build your interactive 3D map for you.

What we accept:

  • File types: .jpg, .png, .pdf, .dxf, .dwg, .webp
  • Floor plans are preferred over photos
  • 2000–4000px in size works best
  • Strong contrast and clearly readable text labels help us map your store accurately
  • Hand-drawn floor plans are perfectly acceptable — a cleaner source map just makes for a faster turnaround

If you don't have an existing floor plan, try:

  • Photographing your building's posted safety/evacuation plan
  • Asking your building owner or architect for a copy
  • Checking with your local government's building records

Note: Multi-level stores aren't fully supported yet in this initial release. If your store spans multiple floors, let us know when you request your map so we can figure out the best approach for your layout.

Once your map is ready and linked to your account, you'll be able to add markers for each space, assign vendors, and set up Space Locations to match your store's layout.

Click here to submit a map upload request to our support team.

Downgrading from Vendor Mall Plus

If you downgrade from Vendor Mall Plus to another plan, your Vendor Mall Plus data — spaces, Space Locations, per-space recurring fees, and your interactive map — is removed and can't be recovered if you re-subscribe later. Your other recurring fees (not tied to Vendor Mall Plus) are unaffected.

You'll see a confirmation screen summarizing this before any downgrade is finalized, so you can back out if you're not sure.

Frequently asked questions

What's coming next?

This is the first version of Vendor Mall Plus, and we're actively building on it. Planned improvements include automatically calculating rent by space size or location, setting start and end dates for a vendor's stay in a space, linking inventory directly to the space it's in, and revenue-by-square-foot reporting. We'll share updates as these go live in our release notes.
