The SimpleConsign integration with QuickBooks Online (QBO) simplifies accounting for consignment businesses. It syncs consignor check payouts and sales information in real-time, streamlining bookkeeping and eliminating manual entries.
Important note: To integrate with SimpleConsign, a separate QuickBooks Online (QBO) account is required. The QBO integration is included with the Professional subscription plan and is available as an add-on feature for the Standard plan ($50/month) and Basic plan ($75/month). Please be aware that the SimpleConsign integration does not cover the cost of the QuickBooks Online subscription.
Important note: QuickBooks Desktop is not supported.
To learn more about how to set up and use the integration in SimpleConsign, please watch our video guide or read the step-by-step instructions below.

Instructions
Setup
- From the Back Office, navigate to Settings.
- Click on the QuickBooks tab and then Connect to QuickBooks.
- Log in using your QuickBooks Online credentials.
- Connect to SimpleConsign.
- Once SimpleConsign is connected, select the name of the account to enter payouts under (i.e the expense account) and the name of the account for your bank.
We typically see the name of the account to enter payouts under as "Cost of Goods Sold".
The list of bank accounts pulls directly from QBO.
- Hit Save and Exit when the connection steps are completed.
- From this point on, any check or cash payouts made will automatically appear in QBO.
Using the Integration
- Pay out a consignor by check or cash. For detailed instructions on paying out consignors, please refer to our Consignor Pay Outs article.
- Once the payout is complete, it'll sync over to QBO underneath the consignor's account. Please be aware that QBO and SimpleConsign use different terminology for similar data points. The table below highlights these differences:
QBO SimpleConsign Company Location (Store)*
Vendor (Payee) Consignor Name + ID
Mailing Address Consignor Address Category Name of account to enter payouts under Bank Account Name of account for your bank Check no. Check # Payment Date Check Date Amount Amount
*Note: A SimpleConsign location can be mapped to a QBO company in a 1:1 relationship, or if you have multiple SimpleConsign locations, you may choose to map them all to a single QBO company, depending on your preference."The following example demonstrates how a payout in SimpleConsign appears as a check in QuickBooks Online (QBO):

Check in QBO
- To locate consignors in QBO, go to the Vendors section by navigating to Vendors > Expenses. From this view, you can review all payouts associated with each consignor account.
If you prefer to see individual payouts consolidated in one view, navigate to Expenses > Expenses.
- Finally, you'll need to print your checks. Checks can be printed through either QBO or SimpleConsign. Please refer to the articles below for detailed instructions on both processes:
