Splits Hierarchy

Splits are configured on a per-location basis, prioritized from the lowest to highest level of precedence as follows:

  1. Default Split

  2. Consignor Split

  3. Category Split

  4. Item Split: Each split type works hierarchically, allowing overrides. For example, a Consignor Split takes precedence over a Category Split, and a Category Split takes precedence over the Default Split. This ensures flexible configurations to suit various scenarios.

Please review the different types of splits below.

  • Default Split: This is the general split applied when no other specification is made. It should reflect the most common split in your store. It is considered the 'baseline split' that applies automatically when no specific settings override it.

  • Consignor Split: This split is customized for individual consignors. These split percentages override both the Category Split and the Default Split to ensure consignor-specific accuracy.

  • Category Split: This split applies to all items within a specified category. If defined, it overrides the Default Split but can be further overridden by Consignor Splits.

  • Item Split: This is the split designated for a specific item. If an Item Split is defined, it takes the highest precedence, overriding all other levels, including Default, Category, and Consignor Splits.

Troubleshooting Incorrect Splits

If you find discrepancies or unexpected settings, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Check and Adjust the Category Split

    • Access the category settings of the item in question.

    • Verify or modify the split at the category level.

  2. Check and Adjust the Consignor Split

    • Visit the consignor's profile and inspect their split settings.

    • Make appropriate changes to align with intended configurations.

  3. Apply Changes

    • Ensure updates are appropriately reflected in all newly entered items. However, note that changes won't retroactively affect existing records unless updated manually.

Please note that changes to the default, consignor, or category splits will not affect inventory already entered, as these items retain the terms set at the time of entry. If you wish to update a split for existing items, you will need to manually override the split settings for each item individually.

Using the Consignor Split, you also have the option to Refactor Consigned Item Splits. This action will update the split for all items under a specific consignor, regardless of when those items were entered.
