About Cash Rounding

You have several options for rounding, Symmetrical Rounding, Always Round Up, Always Round Down. You have the option for two different Step Size as well, 5 cents and 10 cents.

Symmetrical Rounding rounds cash transactions fairly. When the last digit is 1, 2 it rounds DOWN, 3, 4 rounds UP, 6, 7 rounds DOWN, and 8, 9 rounds UP.
Examples: $10.03 → $10.05, $10.02 → $10.00, $10.07 → $10.05

Always Round Up means customers always pay slightly more. When the last digit is 1, 2, 3, 4 it rounds UP to the next 5¢, and 6, 7, 8, 9 rounds UP to the next 10¢.
Examples: $10.01 → $10.05, $10.04 → $10.05, $10.06 → $10.10

Always Round Down means customers always pay slightly less. When the last digit is 1, 2, 3, 4 it rounds DOWN to 0¢, and 6, 7, 8, 9 rounds DOWN to 5¢.
Examples: $10.04 → $10.00, $10.01 → $10.00, $10.09 → $10.05

Card payments are always exact. In order for rounding to apply to your terminals, you must refresh the browser window for each terminal.

You will see rounding show up on the Payment Information window at checkout as you enter the total the customer hands you. This example is using symmetrical rounding:
