Vendor Mall Plus supports two ways to collect rental fees from consignors: Rent Collection and Surcharge. New stores boarding on Vendor Mall Plus can choose either method, but not both at the same time. Surcharge is not currently available for Rent Collection — that capability is planned for a future release. Existing stores with Surcharge enabled that move to Rent Collection should not also enable Surcharge.
Rent Collection requires integrated payments with a provider on the CardConnect rails — either SimplePay or Fiserv. Stores on other processors are not eligible for this feature until they convert.
Setting the Rental Fee Collection Strategy
In the Back Office, go to Settings > Options > Vendor. Under Rental Fee Collection Strategy, choose one of two options:
- Balance only — rent is deducted directly from the consignor's balance.
- Credit card only — the consignor enters a credit card in Consignor Access, and rent is charged to that card instead of deducted from their balance.
You must pick one strategy or the other. The two cannot be mixed.
Adding a card in Consignor Access
This step only applies if Rental Fee Collection Strategy is set to Credit card only.
The vendor clicks their user name in the top right, selects Manage Payment Methods, and adds a card from that screen.
